September 1st saw “The New Pope” enjoy its international premiere at the Venice Film Festival. The event screened two of the episodes of the new season of the Sky, HBO and Canal+ original series, produced by Wildside and co-produced by Haut et Court TV and THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO.
The first footage of the fiction series, written and directed by the Oscar-winning Paolo Sorrentino has been released with the trailer of “The New Pope” which stars Jude Law and John Malkovich, heading an international cast which also includes the Spanish actor Javier Cámara.
“The New Pope” is the second Sorrentino series set in the modern Papal Court. In addition to Jude Law, John Malkovich -both Oscar-nominated actors- and Javier Cámara, the cast also included some of the faces from “The Young Pope”, such as Silvio Orlando, Cécile de France, Ludivine Sagnier and Maurizio Lombardi. The new cast for the limited series features Henry Goodman, Ulrich Thomsen, Mark Ivanir, Yuliya Snigir and Massimo Ghini. Actress Sharon Stone and singer, director and actor Marilyn Manson will guest star.
"The New Pope" is produced by Lorenzo Mieli and Mario Gianani for Wildside, which is part of the Fremantle family of producers, and co-produced by Haut et Court TV and THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO. Fremantle is the global distributor for "The New Pope". In Spain, "The New Pope" will be released by HBO Spain.
