In the event which was held in person, the 26 students from the third edition of the Script-writer’s Master’s course run by the MEDIAPRO STUDIO and the Complutense University in Madrid presented their projects which they had been working on over the duration of the course. The ceremony also included the presentation of the official diploma awarded by the Information Sciences Faculty from the Complutense University in Madrid.

From the projects presented, the directors and creative teams from THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO have already chosen the first three to be developed in-house in the STUDIO.

One of the main objectives of the educational course is the discovery of creative talent and developing it with the guidance of some of the very best professionals in the sector: scriptwriters, directors, and showrunners, all from the MEDIAPRO STUDIO, as well as from the audiovisual industry both in Spain and internationally, including a special section on professional pitches to learn how to present projects effectively to industry decision-makers.

THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO / UCM Master’s course offers a comprehensive educational package which includes both practical and theoretical modules, focused on helping students to develop projects for the cinema, entertainment, TV fiction and webseries. Since its launch in 2019, 75 students have completed the course with 25 of whom now working on their own projects or productions or inside company departments.

Other highlights this time around included the fruitful partnerships formed with other academic institutions such as the prestigious National Film and Television School in the UK and the Cinema École Kourtometraje in France, as well as the participation of directors from platforms and production companies such as Netflix, Movistar+ and StarzPlay, with synergies in programs such as Grow Creative from Netflix, which will select two projects from the Master’s course to develop on the streaming platform.

In this edition, the 26 students have been working on 58 projects, split into 8 feature-length projects, 8 shorts, 8 series, 8 projects, 8 webseries and 26 end-of-Master’s projects as well as doing practical training on programs such as “La Resistencia”, “El Intermedio”, “Zapeando”, “Enredad@s” and “Orbita Laika”; on series such as “UPA Next”, whose filming has just got underway, as well as in the development departments in THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO and production companies which are part of the group such as El Terrat, Globomedia, K 2000, Big Bang Media and 100 Balas.

Thanks to the access guaranteed by THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO, the students have been able to learn from top-level teachers and tutors with years of practical experience in the industry such as Iván Escobar, David Muñoz (“El Espinazo del Diablo”, “La embajada”), Carmen Ortiz (“Águila Roja”, “Pulsaciones”), Nacho Cabana (“Médico de Familia”, “Matadero”), Rubén Ontiveros (“Qué vida más triste”, “La hora de José Mota”) and Alicia López (the Head of the Development Area at THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO), and with workshops and Masterclasses with high-profile industry professionals, such as Fernando León de Aranoa, Diego San José, Carmen Aguilera, Iván Escobar, Marc Cistaré, Maikol Sánchez Romero, Maya Maidagán, Ran Tellem, Luis Fabra, David Lillo, Clara Valle , Ruth García, Joan Grau , and Daniel Burman, head of Oficina Burman, the Argentine production company which is part of THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO which opens the door of the Masters course to opportunities in Latin America.
